THE MORNING PROGRAM
It has been stated often that The Morning Program was ahead of its time. Executive Producer, Bob Shanks, wanted a morning show that would bring audiences into the morning experience.
The Morning Program brand was 'our home is your home', which was beautifully conveyed by the set design. It was literally, a home. We had a working fireplace with a cozy table in front of it for interviews, a window seat with decorative pillows as another interview area, a working kitchen for cooking segments, and an upstage staircase, where guests sometimes entered from. The show featured news, comedy & entertainment, amazing A-list celebrity guests in addition to live music bands and vocalists almost daily. Here is one that I really enjoyed directing...renowned jazz singer, Dianne Reeves. |

The following clips are edited compilations from the final two days of the show that were uploaded to the Internet by a faithful fan. Although the quality is not the best, they give a flavor of the show. The Morning Program traveled to and aired from various locations and parts of the country, which was a challenge unto itself, and a great experience for me as the show's director. We aired from 5 major cities in under 10 months. The Morning Program was known for garnering A+ celebrity guests and guest hosts, as is seen in these videos. |

A loose family atmosphere and innovation represented the brand of The Morning Program. We let our viewing audiences in on the daily 'behind the scenes' happenings. Mariette's spontaneity and comedic antics were a daily staple of the program.
